Rule 10.2b(4) - Restricted Area for Caddies and Playing Partners
When a player begins to take a stance and until the stroke is made, there are limitations on where and why a player's caddie (and playing partner, Rule 22, 23 and 24) may stand deliberately on an extension of the players line of play. The caddie (and playing partner) must not stand on the line of play to assist with:
Aiming - This includes verbal or nonverbal communication
Other than aiming - Such as checking to see if the players club will hit a tree
There is no penalty:
If a caddie (or playing partner) inadvertently stands behind the line of play
If the player backs away before making the stroke and the breach of the rule is fixed
