Walton Horton & Jeanne Campbell WSCGA Match Play Championship
The stroke does not count and must be corrected by playing the right ball from it's original spot
Penalty:
Match Play - General Penalty (loss of hole)
If both players play each others ball by mistake, the first person to make the stroke at the wrong ball incurs the General Penalty and loss of hole
but, if it is not know who made the stroke at the wrong ball first, there is no penalty and the hole is to be played out with the exchanged balls
Stroke Play - General Penalty (2 strokes)
The player must correct the mistake by playing from the original spot with the right ball
The stroke made, and more strokes made, and any additional penalty strokes solely from playing the wrong ball do not count
The mistake must be corrected before the player plays their tee shot on the next hole
For the final hole, before the player turns in their scorecard
Failure to correct results in a Disqualification
If it is know or virtually certain the players ball was played by another player playing a wrong ball, the player must replace the ball on it's original spot
This relatively short par 4 tests your driving accuracy and use of angles. The ideal way to play the hole depends on which green is being used. Right center of the fairways is desired when the left green is in play and vice veras when the right green is put into play. This is also a hole where the farther the drive the more accurate you need to be as the fairway bottlenecks putting an even more premium on driving accuracy.
