5.6b - Prompt Pace of Play
1) Pace of
Play Recommendations: (The player should play a prompt pace of
play throughout the round including the time taken to prepare for each
stroke, move from one place to another, moving to the next teeing area,
ect.):
Player should make a stroke in no more than 40 seconds when it is their turn to play
Encouraged to play quicker than that if able
Playing out of turn to help pace of play (depending on the form of play):
Match Play - Players may agree that one of them will play out of turn to save time
*Agreement is required or player may cancel the stroke 6.4a(2)
Stroke Play - Players are allowed and encouraged to play "ready golf" in a safe and responsible way
*Shouldnot play out of turn to gain advantage and the player who's turn it is to play indicates they're ready to play has priority 6.4b(2)
The completion committee may
have its own pace of play policy to help entourage and enforce prompt
