  • Rosie checks in with each 6-month Mentor-Mentee partnership at beginning, middle and end.

In 2023, the WSCGA Vicki Hillen JGF (WSCGA - VHJGF) collaborated with LPGA legend Rosie Jones to host the prestigious WSCGA - VHJGF High School Invitational. The objective was to elevate the event by incorporating mentoring sessions with LPGA Legends throughout the weekend. Among the esteemed mentors were Rosie Jones, Hollis Stacy, Michelle McGann, Leta Lindley, Cathy Johnson-Forbes, and Jackie Gallagher-Smith, to name just a few.

The inspiration behind this initiative is Rosie Jones's passion for giving back and supporting our young players. The success of the WSCGA Vicki Hillen JGF High School Invitational and Mentoring Weekend led to the creation of the WSCGA - VHJGF Rosie Jones Mentoring Grant.

About the Rosie Jones Mentoring Grant

This grant is designed to assist South Carolina junior girls in various aspects of golf beyond just their swing. It focuses on enhancing the mental game, course management, the recruiting process, and more. A select group of mentors from across South Carolina, including LPGA Tour Legend Rosie Jones, USC Hall of Fame Women's Golf Coach Kristi Coggins, Retired University of Alabama Women's Golf Coach Betty Palmer, and LPGA Tour Player Nancy Bowen, among others, will work closely with the grant recipients.

The Rosie Jones Mentoring Grant will award four recipients with $2,000 scholarships to collaborate with their mentors yearly. In its inaugural year, the grant awarded $2,000 each to four grantees and an additional five grantees received $1,000 each. The additional funding for the five subgrants was gifted by Rosie Jones to ensure all first-year applicants could benefit from this incredible opportunity.

The grant aims to foster the development of young female golfers, providing them with the necessary tools and guidance to excel in all facets of the game. Through the mentorship and support of experienced professionals, the recipients are expected to gain valuable insights and skills that will aid them in their golfing careers.

The WSCGA - VHJGF Rosie Jones Mentoring Grant stands as a testament to the commitment of the WSCGA Vicki Hillen JGF and Rosie Jones in nurturing the next generation of female golfers. By addressing critical aspects of the game and offering substantial financial support, the grant promises to be a transformative force in the lives of its recipients.
